Shillong, June 28: After the employees of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) under the umbrella of Mawmluh Cherra Cements Employees’ Union (MCCEU) had threaten for agitation of the state government fails to release their salary within one week, the Chairman of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) and Cabinet Minister, Wailadmiki Shylla on Monday afternoon informed that the state government has agreed to sanction Rs. 2 crores quarterly for payment of salary to employees of MCCL.
Speaking to media persons, Shylla said that this decision was taken after the meeting between the chief minister and administration of MCCL. “In a meeting the chief minister had announced that the state government will release Rs. 2 crores quarterly as a financial assistance and also to pay the salary of all employees of MCCL”, said Shylla
Shylla said that last week the employees and staff of MCCL had called the administration with regard to their salary and they want assurance from the state government when it comes to financial assistance.
He added that with regard to the salary the state government has agreed to release Rs. 2 crores quarterly and this package will be continuous until everything is sorted out in the MCCL.
When asked about the process of joint venture, chairman of MCCL Shylla said that the state government had set the deadline of 18 July as the last date for two interested companies to present their plan when it comes to joint ventures of MCCL.
“So we called those two major companies who had earlier come forward for a joint venture, to give their final presentation on 18 on whether they are going to proceed forward or not with the joint venture” he added.
