The campaign has been organized by the 6th Semester Media Tech students for the Communication for Development paper from April 25 to May 04, 2022 at St. Anthony’s College.

To mark the culmination of the campaign, the students organized a talk titled “Waste to Grace” by Bankitlang Nongbri, Founder of Eco-Ri and a panel discussion on the theme “Single Use Plastic Water Bottles- An Absolute Monstrosity”.

The panellist included environmentalist Dr. H.H. Mohrmen, a well known hospitality entrepreneur Jiwat Vaswani, executive director of Bethany Society Carmo Noronha and assistant professor of Shillong College Dr. Reema V. Diengdoh.

Mohrmen said according to science it will take 300 years for plastic to decompost, so plastic is unavoidable for this generation and he added “we can stop it now or never”.

Asserting that the future of the next generation depends on the present one; whether they will have clean water and green environment, Jiwat Varanasi said things can change if one has something to do about it.

Dr. Reema V Diengdoh said it is difficult to convince and educate the youth and if we want to see change the youth can be the only influencer to re-inculcate the habit of carrying the water bottle and all the things required in those fancy bags.
