Lawngtlai, May 3: An appreciation function was held today at the Lawngtlai DC Conference Hall to honor 80 student volunteers from Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai Scouts & Guides, who selflessly assisted voters at polling stations during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on April 19, 2024.
According to an official release, the event was attended by district election officials, along with the Principal, teachers, and students of Don Bosco School Lawngtlai. District Election Officer Pu Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy expressed gratitude to the volunteers for their service in helping elderly and disabled voters, emphasizing that the Election Commission of India highly values their contribution.
The student volunteers, including 60 Scouts & Guides, provided assistance to voters across 20 polling stations in Lawngtlai town. Certificates and mugs were presented to each volunteer as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
The Principal of Don Bosco School thanked the District Election Office for providing an opportunity for their students to contribute during the elections, highlighting the importance of youth participation in the democratic process.
