SHILLONG, JUL 12: The Dream Elite Pre-Season Summer Basketball Camp 2026 wrapped up on Saturday at Pearly Dew School, Jaiaw, with DREAM Director Francis Kharshiing urging young players to pursue sports for a healthy, drug-free future.
Organised by DREAM with Dubakh Sports Pvt Ltd and supported by the Department of Social Welfare, the 2-week camp saw over 100 players from Shillong and nearby areas compete in 5 championship finals despite intermittent rain.
Addressing athletes during the finals, DREAM Director Francis Kharshiing said,”Encouraging the young athletes to dream big, stay disciplined, and use sports as a pathway to a healthy and meaningful future.”
He also reaffirmed DREAM’s commitment to youth empowerment and the campaign for a drug-free Meghalaya.
The message was echoed in a drug awareness skit and musical performance by the DREAM team under the theme: “Be the Generation that Says No to Drugs. Prevention is Power.”
Dr Tosanlang Kharsati, Principal of Pearly Dew School, gave the welcome address, while Barihunlang Wankhar, Headmistress of Emjay Secondary School, lauded the initiative and urged students to balance academics with sports.
All participants received certificates, camp T-shirts and lunch.
Ethan Alrico Ryntathiang, MD of Dubakh Sports Pvt Ltd, delivered the vote of thanks.
