Meghalaya cabinet approves proposal to restructure Special Force – 10

Shillong, May 11: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal to restructure the Special Force 10 bringing down the actual strength from 1,387 to 905.

Addressing the media persons, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed that they want to restructure so that there will be proper policing and proper use of resources.

Rymbui said, “905 will remain in SF 10 and the rest we could transfer to different Districts or outpost as the case maybe.”

Rymbui added this was also done in order to maximize the productivity and the use of resources in state.

“Considering that resource of state to augment of availability of personnel in different outpost hence it was approved by Cabinet,” said Rymbui.

With the reduction in militancy in the state, which was the main reason that the SF-10 was established, the department had made close observation and submitted a proposal to the Cabinet.

“The militancy has also reduced in the state hence we needed to restructure the SF 10,” said Rymbui.

Out of the 905 which will remain in SF 10, 183 will remain in the SF10 Headquarters, 361 will be in the tactical base in the eastern range which will be established in 1st MLP Battalion Mawiong, and 361 in the tactical base western range which will be established in 2nd MLP battalion Goeragre,

All the entry into the SF 10 will be lateral entry from all the wings of Meghalaya police.
