Shillong, Dec 20: In a strategic move to bridge the gap between education and sports, the Meghalaya Education Commission hosted John F Kharshiing, Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympics Association (MSOA), for a crucial discussion. The event, held at the DERT Annexure Conference Hall in Shillong on December 20, aimed to explore ways to integrate sports seamlessly into the education curriculum.
John F Kharshiing, in his capacity as the Working President of MSOA, is actively championing the cause of promoting sports as an integral aspect of education in Meghalaya. The MSOA is dedicated to implementing progressive policies outlined in regional frameworks to enhance the overall well-being of athletes and youths. The session concluded with a call for collective efforts to effectively translate these insights into actionable initiatives.
John F Kharshiing, the Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympics Association (MSOA), handed over a comprehensive presentation and a copy of the Meghalaya Sports Policy 2019 to Professor S M Sungoh, the Chairperson of the Meghalaya Education Commission. The presentation, titled “Education and Sports: A Balanced Approach,” was shared during a meeting held at the DERT Annexure Conference Hall, Shillong, in the presence of other esteemed members of the commission.
Prof SM Sungoh, Chairperson of the Meghalaya Education Commission, expressed gratitude for the valuable suggestions. He assured careful consideration by the committee for subsequent recommendation to the state government.
