Shillong, Oct 24 : The Meghalaya Cricket Association will send a 20-member squad to Kolkata to take part in the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy, which will begin on October 29. The tournament is being organized by the BCCI.
Debasmita Dutta will captain the side, with Daiaka Warjri her deputy. There are also two guest players approved by the BCCI – Rajni Lodhi and Viancy Choudhary. Meghalaya will play six matches this year.
Prior to the tournament, the Meghalaya squad led by its head coach Saranya RS, Captain Debasmitta Dutta, Vice-Captain Daiaka Warjri and other team members have undergone a pre-conditioning camp at Just Cricket Academy, Bangalore from Sept 20 – October 20, 2021.
During the camp, Meghalaya team played practice matches with Mizoram and Karnataka, which boost the morale of the team and are confident to qualify for the play-offs.
The Meghalaya team will play on 29th October with Sikkim, 31st October with Bihar, 1st November with Manipur, 3rd November with Nagaland and 4th November with Jammu & Kashmir and 6th November with Arunachal Pradesh.
On qualifying during the matches, the Meghalaya team will play the “play-offs” in Kolkatta and will further qualify for different matches to be organized by the BCCI.
