Tura, Jan 12: The U-18 Girls’ football division of the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 witnessed a very one-sided match between South West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills, as the Khasi Hills side completely blew out its opponents.
From the onset, the East Khasi Hills team displayed an overwhelming performance, establishing their dominance in the first half by securing an impressive 9-0 lead against the South West Garo Hills girls’ football squad, who struggled to find the back of the net.
The onslaught continued into the second half, with the East Khasi Hills team finding the back of the net four more times to add to their huge scorecard. The South West Garo Hills girls fought hard but were unable to break through the strong defense of East Khasi Hills.
As the final whistle blew, the scoreboard was the best reflection of the kind of blitzkrieg East Khasi Hills district U-18 girls’ football team inflicted on South West Garo Hills. The score board read an astonishing 13-0.
With this triumph, the East Khasi Hills team has advanced to the next round of the competition, as only two teams are in its group.
