Shillong, March 17: The war on drugs in Meghalaya is set to intensify as the state government has taken a firm stance against drug trafficking. The battle against the menace of drugs is one of the top priorities for the newly-constituted 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting on Friday, Cabinet Minister and MDA-II official spokesperson, Paul Lyngdoh said the government will not compromise on raids, seizures, and checking on illicit drugs of any variety. The state police, he added, are under high alert and ready to go all out against drug peddlers.
He also informed that the total seizure of drugs by the State Police is approximately a staggering Rs. 71 crores, a clear indication of the gravity of the situation. But the government is undaunted and determined to tackle the drug menace head-on, leaving no stone unturned, he said.
With this firm resolve and determination, the Meghalaya government is set to wage an all-out war against drug trafficking in all its forms, big or small, he further added.
