Shillong, Oct 10: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday informed that the government is identifying few locations for the proposed relocation of 342 families of Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
Speaking to media persons, Dhar said that discussions are on before finalizing the new location.
“We are on the job, and you will know when we decide,” he said.
Regarding the ongoing talks with the Defence Ministry, Dhar stated that the matter is still being discussed. “We are still in talks with them,” he said.
Stating that the case is pending in court, the deputy CM said, “Yes, the case is still in the court, and we are doing our own job as a state government (to speed up the relocation).”
Dhar expressed hope that the issue would be resolved mutually, despite the court proceedings. “We want to decide mutually with the understanding, even though this matter is pending in court. Hopefully, we should be able to resolve it. Maybe we will take some time, but we are not sitting idle; we are on the job, and we are serious about this matter,” he assured.
