SHILLONG, DEC 14: 186 cases worth over Rs 1.66 crore were resolved during the National Lok Adalat organized by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) in collaboration with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) across the state on Saturday.
Chief Justice Soumen Sen attended the National Lok Adalat at Tura, West Garo Hills District, and interacted with the lawyers and litigants.
Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W Diengdoh attended the Lok Adalat at the Meghalaya High Court, District Court, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong and District Council Court, KHADC.
A total of 653 cases were taken up, comprising 246 pre-litigation cases and 407 pending cases. Of these, 186 cases were settled, involving a total amount of Rs 1,66,26,250.82.
The National Lok Adalat provided a platform for lawyers and litigants to resolve disputes amicably, promoting speedy justice delivery and reducing the burden on courts.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Chief Justice Soumen Sen, who is also the Patron in Chief of MSLSA and supervision of Justice HS Thangkhiew, who is the Executive Chairman, MSLSA and Justice W Diengdoh, who is Chairperson, High Court Legal Services Committee.
