“Meghalaya Police on a war footing to curb drug menace”

International Day of Drug Abuse 2023: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday congratulated the state police department on their great work. He also urged the Police department to continue their work to control and end the menace of drug abuse in the State.

He said, “While the enforcement agencies are doing their work we need to ensure that the 40,500 youth who are totally dependent on drugs are treated with empathy and taken care of so that they can integrate back into society as responsible and productive citizens”.

He went on to say that “we need to ensure that not only take care of the demand side by ensuring that we are able to bring in awareness among the youth.”

“We also need to realise that there are 3 Lakh people and about forty thousand five hundred youths who are depended on drugs, we need to take care of them,” he said.

“We need to accept that there is a problem face it and find a solution together…it may take some time, it may not be easy, but if we put our hearts and minds together, we will able to achieve a dream of free drug Meghalaya,” CM added.
