One of the most famous stars of the north east in the culinary world hailing from the Garo tribe, Miss Nambie Jessica Marak, who created a sensation across India by bagging the runners up position in the Masterchef India competition of 2023, has joined the NPP at a special function in Athiyabari, Hahim in West Khasi Hills during an election meeting on Thursday.
Sangma's statement bears immense significance and comes as a response to opposition political parties who are allegedly attempting to strike an emotional chord by playing with the sentiments of the people in relation to tribal identity.
“As Chief Minister, when I travel to Delhi, I get recognition because of my father’s contribution to politics. My sister Agatha Sangma has been MP of Tura Lok Sabha for three terms, and she has been articulating concerns of not only Meghalaya and Northeast but of the indigenous people and Christians,” he said, while stating that leadership in Delhi has given due weightage to her voice.
