Tura, Aug 9: In an unfortunate incident, one Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost his life after he was attacked by a wild elephant in Meghalaya’s South Garo Hills Districts.
The tragic incident took place on Wednesday at around 12:30 pm when two BSF personnel were heading to Nilwagre BOP from Domdomma BOP for official work on a motor cycle and when they reached the border road in between Rasnagre and Nilwagre they were attacked by a herd of elephant’s.
In the attack, one BSF personnel identified as Head Constable received body injuries and was soon rushed to Sibbari PHC where he was declared brought dead.

This is not the first time an elephant attack has claimed someone’s life.
Earlier, on August 1, a man lost his life in Kurung village, Pedaldoba, under the Tikrikilla region of the West Garo Hills.
The victim was identified as 59-year old Milendro Momin, who was a farmer.
Similarly, a 4-year-old child and her mother were attacked by a group of wild elephants on July 31 in the Cherengpara area of Gasuapara in the South Garo Hills.
