In a devastating incident early Saturday morning, a wild elephant claimed the lives of three individuals, including two forest guards, in Sonitpur district, Assam. The attack occurred in Dhirai Majuli village, where the elephant had strayed from the nearby Dhekiajuli forest.
Two elephants crossed the international border from Bangladesh to India on Thursday (December 14). The elephants were later observed moving towards the village of Kamar Para by 05:00 hours.
The two victims, a 4 year old girl child Chiora S Sangma and Miss Nokmanchi S Sangma (20 years), both hailing from Dapgre Dalu, were chased by one of the pachyderms and attacked leaving them critically injured.
