Meghalaya wins 13 medals including 7 gold medals at Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament

Shillong, Nov 9: Meghalaya continues to shine at national and international sporting events especially in martial arts with its latest outing bringing in 13 medals.

The Meghalayan team brought home a total of 7 Gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 Bronze medals at the recently held Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from November 2-6, 2022, organised by WAKO India Kickboxing Federation.

In addition, five Meghalaya referees received Diploma in International Referee – Jezerel Sangma, Belldona Pakyntein (Mawkyrwat), Ibadarishisha Mukhim (Lumparing Lumdorbar), Wandashisha Nongkhlaw (Sawmer Shiteng Upper Shillong), Shaiborlang Lyngdoh Mawphlang (Nongrah Nonglum).

“It is amazing to see the amount of work and activity going on in Asia now and India seems to be the hub of activity for Asia the last number of years under the leadership of the President Mr. Santosh Agraval,” said WAKO President Roy Baker.

Since 2017, the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association has bagged a tally of 68 Gold Medals, 44 Silver Medals and 64 Bronze Medals with 33 International Medals, respectively, along with 8 International Referees both in Ring and Tatami Sports of Kickboxing.
