Meghalaya’s Wallambok and Kayleigh judge prestigious Tata Steel Climbing Championship

SHILLONG, FEB 2: Secretary of the Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) Wallambok Lyngdoh and Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih have officiated as judges at the Tata Steel Climbing Championship 2026, held from January 24-27, 2026, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

“Tata Steel has consistently been at the forefront of sports development in India,” Malviancy Shabong, President, MeSCMA said in a statement issued on Monday.

“Through the pioneering efforts of TSAF, sport climbing has gained significant momentum in Jharkhand, and we are confident that the sport will continue to reach new heights across the country.”

Sport climbing has witnessed a growing global audience since its inclusion in the Olympic Games, making its debut at Tokyo 2020, followed by Paris 2024, and now moving towards even greater participation in Los Angeles 2028.

The Tata Steel Climbing Championship 2026 Successfully commenced with a high-energy atmosphere, supported by a strong technical team from across the nation.

“It was inspiring to witness enthusiastic local climbers, national champions, and elite international athletes from countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Nepal, proudly representing their nations at the championship,” the MeSCMA president stated.
