Metbah Lyngdoh banks on young leaders to win majority of seats in 2023 elections

Khliehriat, May 22: The UDP, East Jaiñtia Hills District, on saturday felicitated the new office bearers of its youth wing at a function organised at Sohkymphor Village, East Jaiñtia Hills which was attended by the State President of the party, Metbah Lyngdoh and party’s General Secretary Dr. Jemino Mawthoh.

The function was also attended by party MLA from Khliehriat Kyrmen Shylla, Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein, and also by various MDCs from JHADC.

Speaking to the party workers, Metbah Lyngdoh said the election will witness a change this time whereby people will elect young MLAs, especially those who are below 50 years of age. He also stressed that majority of the MLAs will be from the party as people have realized that the party is united and it is working for the welfare of the people of the state.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh infomed that presently the party is very strong as compared to the previous years and that about 16-17 sitting MLAs wish to contest the 2023 elections from the party.

Earlier, party’s executive member Embhahlang Syiemlieh urged the party workers to work hard in order to ensure that the party will come out as the single largest party with absolute majority in the 2023 Assembly elections and rule the state with the party’s state president Metbah Lyngdoh as the Chief Minister.

The function was presided by Finelyness Bareh, the MDC from Rymbai Khliehriat Constituency, while Lasky Rymbai, the MDC from Tuber Constituency, delivered the welcome address.
