Jowai, April 11: The Wildlife Division of the West Jaiñtia Hills District has appealed to the people of the district to not disturb or harm migratory birds recently seen in the district. This appeal comes following the sighting of flock of migratory vultures at Lad Demthring in West Jaiñtia Hills along the Jowai-Dawki road.
As per locals, these vultures migrate to the said area annually during this time of the year. The birds will be in the area for a week or so, only in rare case, they stay for more than a week, they added.
Meanwhile, forest officials have set-up temporary camps in the area to protect these birds.
