Nongpoh, April 11: Tragedy struck a family in Umling village, in Ri Bhoi District, on Tuesday afternoon when a large tree fell on their house, claiming the life of a 15-year-old boy and injuring several others.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm, when the massive tree uprooted and toppled over the family’s residence. Unfortunately, the boy was studying inside the house at that time and was killed instantly in the catastrophic accident. Several other members of the family who were inside the house were also injured in the incident.

Following the incident, the injured family members were rushed to the Civil Hospital Nongpoh for medical treatment, while the boy’s body was sent for post mortem. After completing all the formalities, the deceased’s body was shifted to his native village in Assam.
