Teliamura (Tripura), Aug 25: In a concerning incident, a person who had been missing since the previous evening was discovered on Friday in an unconscious state, bearing injuries from an apparent elephant attack.
Prompt action by firefighters on the basis of call by locals led to the rescue of the injured individual, found lying by the roadside in Jhumbari village within the Maiganga Office Tilla area, situated under the Teliamura subdivision in the Khowai district of Tripura.
The injured victim, identified as Niranjan Biswas, sustained multiple injuries on his body and head, as reported by Samir Das, an official from the rescue agency involved in the operation.
Following the rescue, Biswas was swiftly transported to the Teliamura hospital for urgent medical attention.
Over the past few years, Teliamura has experienced numerous incidents of elephant attacks, with some resulting in human casualties.
These incidents predominantly occur during the dry and harvest seasons. The coexistence of humans and wildlife in the region has presented challenges, often reports of deaths of human and as well as the animal in such unfortunate encounters.
