Shillong, May 9: MIT University of Meghalaya has partnered with Bengaluru-based Flo101 Tech Labs to introduce an AI-enabled learning ecosystem aimed at improving student engagement, skill development, and academic outcomes.
The collaboration comes amid a growing national shift towards integrating artificial intelligence into higher education systems, with institutions increasingly adopting personalised learning tools, real-time academic feedback, and data-driven student assessment models.
According to the university, the partnership seeks to create an “intelligent academic support layer” that complements classroom teaching while helping students map skills, track progress, and align learning with evolving industry requirements.
The initiative is expected to be particularly significant for the Northeast, where access to advanced AI-enabled academic systems remains limited compared to larger metropolitan education hubs. Officials said the collaboration could also emerge as a model for how regional universities can adopt AI-powered academic frameworks in a phased and outcome-oriented manner.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Malhar Pangrikar said the university aims to align its academic ecosystem with contemporary learning practices while ensuring students in the region receive relevant and future-ready educational experiences.
“Our focus remains on building capabilities that enhance student learning, improve skill development, and strengthen academic outcomes in a sustainable manner,” he said.

Avneer Bhadauria said the partnership would focus on creating adaptive and intelligent learning environments that can be integrated into existing academic systems.
The collaboration is also aligned with the objectives of India’s National Education Policy, which emphasises digital enablement, multidisciplinary learning, innovation, and skill development in higher education.
University officials said the AI-enabled framework is expected to provide faculty with deeper insights into student performance, learner engagement, and employability indicators, potentially supporting curriculum refinement and more targeted mentoring interventions.
With higher education institutions across India accelerating digital transformation, the partnership signals a broader effort to position Northeast universities within the country’s emerging AI-driven education landscape.
