Shillong, April 30: The village of Marngar was filled with sorrow as the mortal remains of Walinda Binong arrived on Sunday. Binong, who was studying at Modi College in Laxman Garh Sekhawati, Rajasthan, was found dead in her hostel room on April 27, 2023. The circumstances of her death are unclear, and it is not yet known whether she committed suicide or was murdered.

Binong’s father, Ruby Binong, expressed disbelief at the news of his daughter’s death, stating that she was a promising student who excelled in her studies and was due to receive a prize from the college.

The family accompanied the body as it was brought back to their village.

Upon arrival in Marngar, the village elders performed a ritual before the body was allowed to enter the village. The cremation is scheduled to take place on Monday in Marngar.
