Agartala, June 11: A woman allegedly strangled her nine-year-old son to death in Agartala on Monday evening due to frustration with his disobedient behavior.
The incident occurred in the Joynagar area under the jurisdiction of the Battala Police outpost.
The accused identified as Suprabha Bal, a daily wage laborer at a construction site, confessed to the crime.
She admitted that she was frustrated by her nine year old son’s persistent misbehavior, which included neglecting his studies and stealing money.
Suprabha Bal stated that with her husband missing and her daughter married, she was left to raise her son alone. She said that her son’s actions made it impossible for her to work or live in peace, leading her to take such a drastic step.
Police, along with a forensic team, arrived at the scene and recovered a piece of rope and a bamboo stick, which were allegedly used in the murder.
The deceased’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered against her.
