Shillong, July 29: BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Tuesday claimed that the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) is sufficient for controlling influx into the state and that introducing another mechanism may not be necessary.
“The subject is same. We want only to control the influx. If we have this mechanism (MRSSA), why should we want another mechanism,” Hek told reporters.
According to him, MRSSA is an effective mechanism for regulating the flow of people into Meghalaya.
“The MRSSA is a good mechanism for controlling influx, ensuring the safety of both tourists and local people,” he said.
The minister also informed that the MRSSA is empowering dorbar shnong and house owners to check influx, thereby protecting the state’s interests.
“Through the MRSSA, we empower the dorbar shnong and house owners to check the influx,”he said.
Hek added that the proposal to fully implement the MRSSA will be discussed in the cabinet.
