Guwahati, Nov 6: In a major operation carried out by Indian Army’s Eastern Command Intelligence Battalion (ECIB) and Special Operation Team of Mon Police, a listed and hardcore cadre of NSCN (K-YA), self styled Lt. Jyachuk Wangsu alias Abo, was arrested from a hideout in Nagaland’s Mon district on Monday.
Wangsu is the son of Mannyem Wangsu, a resident of Chanu village in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh. The cadre had recently deserted NSCN(U) and joined the NSCN(K-YA). He was arrested by Longding police and security forces in 2021 with arms.
According to sources, Wangsu was continuously placing extortion demand along with other K-YA cadres as per the direction from senior NSCN (K-YA) leaders – self-styled Brig. Peyong Konyak, Self Styled Col. Botai Wangsu and Self Styled Capt Panchin Wangsu.
The sources also informed that mobile numbers and conversations with all these cadres have been recovered from Wangsu’s mobile. Further investigation into the case is on.
