Kohima, Jan 24: In a major development related to the Nagaland firing case, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday informed that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Nagaland government to probe the Oting massacre on December 4 and 5 is awaiting reports from the Central Forensics Science Laboratory (CFSL), before it can submit the final report.

“Without the CFSL report, the findings will be incomplete, and there will be no evidence or scientific proof to proceed further. SIT has submitted its preliminary report. The team will place the final report once it gets reports from the Central Forensics Science Laboratory (CFSL),” said the Chief Minister.

The 22-member SIT team that included five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers completed examining and recording the statements of officers and jawans who were involved in an ambush on December 4, 2021, which claimed the lives of 13 civilians. A soldier also died in the subsequent attack by villagers.
