Tura, Jan 24: The inaugural Alumni Meet of the Department of Garo at NEHU, Tura Campus, took place on Tuesday, at the university premises.

Welcoming the alumni, Dr. Jacqueline R. Marak, Head of the Garo Department, NEHU Tura Campus, expressed her delight in meeting former students and conveyed gratitude for their contributions to various fields.

As the Chief Guest, Prof. Milton S. Sangma, Retd. Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NEHU Tura Campus & ICFAI University, Tura, shared his happiness at learning about the alumni’s roles in different educational institutions, offices, and schools, contributing to societal growth and development.

He proposed that the Alumni Association could function as an agency promoting the growth and fostering a peaceful environment at NEHU Tura Campus and the University at large.

During the event, two books were unveiled by Prof. Milton S. Sangma – “Longinus Sublimeni Gimin” by Caroline R. Marak and an anthology titled “Sechokchim” by the Garo Department Alumni.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Caroline R. Marak, Retd. Head of the Garo Department, NEHU Tura Campus, encouraged the alumni to strive for excellence in their respective careers and endeavors.

With a turnout of more than seventy alumni, the participants expressed their gratitude to the Department’s teachers. The event concluded with a Business Session, marking a successful gathering for the NEHU Tura Campus and the Garo Department.
