NGOs extend aid for feeding cattle seized along the International Border

Shillong, Jan 6:  The Border Security Force (BSF) apart from their regular duties of maintaining the sanctity of the border and guarding it around the clock. Sometimes, the Force get itself indulged in various social and humanistic tasks whenever required.

Preventing cattle smuggling in the border is one of the indispensable roles BSF is obliged with. In an effort to do so, BSF counter challenges in managing the seized cattle due to lack of infrastructure, sustenance and wherewithal. This problem of stranded cattle began in the year Dec’ 2018 when the Customs Department stopped taking over the seized cattle after the orders of Honourable Supreme Court.

There are various organizations and societies who come forward and offer aid time to time to these stranded seized cattle. This time it is Hariman Prabhat Feri Mandal Shillong, a society of Marwari community who extended help by donating 30 Bags of Brown rice on 05th Jan 2020 for the cattle kept under the custody of 30 Bn BSF. Talking about the veneration of the cow in Hindu society Sh J P Agarwal, Head of the society expressed his honour in extending such aid and expressed his willingness to continue such noble help in future also.

PRO BSF Meghalaya U.K Nayal, DIG, appreciated the modest effort of society for being so helpful and cooperative in the endeavour of BSF to keep stranded cattle alive.
