Shillong, May 27: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said the BJP’s high command has not sent any letter indicating the need for an open debate and setting up of a CBI probe into allegations of corruption.

“Nobody has written to me. The high command or central leadership has not sent any letter to me (regarding this),” Sangma told reporters when asked for his comment on the challenge made by BJP MDC from Tura Bernard N Marak for an open debate on corruption and need to set up CBI inquiry into the various scams raised by the saffron party.

Marak had also stated that “CM appointed, CM can remove and we are ready for the show. Money and power is not everything in politics, good leadership is.”

Refusing to respond to the different allegations made by individual members of the BJP, Sangma said otherwise he will not be able to work but will have to sit and reply to such allegations.

The chief minister further maintained that it is up to the BJP leadership to take necessary action against their members and that he has nothing to say on whatever steps they want to take.

Stating that it was BJP central leadership’s decision to extend support to the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), Sangma said, “If the central leadership accordingly gives me the direction in the sense that they say we want to do this, we want to do that, then that is a different story. But I think individuals making allegations and complaining is something that is their wish and I have no comments on that.”

Earlier, NPP national vice president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong had slammed the BJP for playing a double role by resorting to an anti-MDA government campaign despite being part and parcel of the government.
