Shillong, Sept 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said there is no plan for any reshuffling of portfolios between him and his elder brother James K Sangma, who currently hold Power, Forest and Environment and IPR, etc.
“No, there is nothing like that,” Sangma told media after chairing the MDA meeting ahead of the autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, which begins tomorrow (Sept 10).
His categorical reply was to end all speculations that were doing the rounds that he is likely going to take away the power portfolio from James K Sangma.
On Tuesday, the opposition Congress had alleged that James K Sangma would be given the tourism portfolio, which is presently being held by the Chief Minister – while alleging that the move was to lease out the MeECL assets in the name of enhancing the tourism industry in the state.
Centre assures to clear EAPs
Interacting with media on his arrival to Shillong from Delhi trip, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the Centre has assured to clear externally aided projects (EAPs) amounting to Rs 1,000 crore for the state.
He informed that during his recent Delhi visit, he had met the vice chairman of the NITI Aayog regarding three-four of the externally aided projects.
“…the vice chairman has assured me that he would be clearing them so these projects on different sectors amounting to 1,000 crore are very important for us and NITI Aayog has to give its comments so I got a very positive response in regards to that,” he said.
The chief minister also met the Information and Technology Minister for his intervention into the need for expansion of the towers.
“We are having some issues from the government of India. I have brought those issues to the notice of the minister and he has said that he will ensure that those issues are also addressed,” he informed.
