Guwahati, Oct 25: An adult male elephant was electrocuted to death in North Bengal’s Alipurduar district on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at Uttar Mandarbari in Kalchini CD block on Tuesday night.

According to locals, they spotted the dead elephant on Wednesday morning.

“We have found the dead elephant lying on the ground. The elephant died due to electrocution. It was a sad incident that a male adult elephant died after coming into contact with high-power electric wire,” said a local resident.

He said, “Due to the negligence of the electric department, the elephant died. Earlier, many elephants died in the same way. We urged the electric department to take necessary step to solve issue”.
