Imphal, Mar 5: In a major drug haul, security forces seized around 1,518 grams of heroin powder worth around Rs 15.4 crores and apprehended one person in Manipur’s Churachandpur on Tuesday.
The arrested person was identified as Thangsuanman (44) stated to be the leader of a drug ring along Manipur-Myanmar border.
Assam Rifles siezed contraband drug weighing 1,518 grams worth around Rs 15.4 crores from Thingkangphai village in Churachandpur district of Manipur.
After getting specific inputs regarding drug smuggling, an operation was launched in Thingkangphai resulting in the arrest and seizing of drug weighing 1,518 grams.
“On the late night of March 3, Assam Rifles caught red handed Thangsuanman, a resident of M Tanglian village, the drug dealer who was trying to close a drug deal in a white Mahindra Bolero vehicle. After intense searching the vehicle, security personnel found the illegal items from his vehicle,” said an official of Assam Rifles.
The drug dealer and his vehicle was later handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigation.
