NPP’s Williamnagar Committee opposes Uniform Civil Code, highlights cultural concerns

Williamnagar, June 4: In a resolute display of their stance on a significant legislative proposal, the National People’s Party (NPP) District Committee in Williamnagar held a momentous meeting at their party office, where they firmly voiced their opposition against the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. The committee expressed profound concerns regarding the potential adverse effects this code could have on the rich cultural heritage of the region.

During the well-attended gathering, the committee not only deliberated on the pressing matter at hand but also took a heartfelt pause to acknowledge the tragic events that unfolded in Manipur. The attendees solemnly observed a prayer session dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the recent ethnic clash. Dominic Sangma, the NPP District General Secretary of the Williamnagar Unit, shared insights from the meeting, emphasizing the significance of the committee’s opposition to the Uniform Civil Code. He emphasized that the NPP’s unwavering stance reflects their deep-rooted commitment to safeguarding the region’s unique cultural identity and time-honored traditions.
