Over 1,600 teaching positions vacant in schools in Meghalaya

Shillong, March 28: Meghalaya Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that there are currently a significant number of teaching vacancies in the state.

According to the Minister, there are 420 unfilled positions for SSA teachers and 1,219 vacancies for government teachers.

The vacancies for SSA teachers are distributed among three categories: Lower Primary (102), Upper Primary (292), and Secondary (26). Meanwhile, the government teacher vacancies are divided among four categories: Lower Primary (1002), Upper Primary (41), Secondary (125), and Higher Secondary (51).

The minister was replying to the question raised by Congress’ Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar during the final day of the budget session.
