A day after the retaining wall of PA Sangma stadium was damaged, the chief engineer of state sports council of Meghalaya, BM Syiem on Friday said that in this particular project, a MoU was signed between Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya and Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited (HSCL) to execute the work on behalf of the Government department. He said, “basically, all these work is being carried out by HSCL, all the work here is done by HSCL.”
He said that he was at the incident site to check that this doesn’t happen again can be prevented at this satge.Taking about the steps that are to be taken at present, he said a re-construction of wall is the requirement but cannot be done because of Monsoon. He further said that the final call will be taken by the HSCL.
