Guwahati, June 2: A sudden fire in the Babubil area of Assam’s Gossaigaon plunged the region into chaos on Sunday, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. The blaze, attributed to a leak in an Oil India pipeline running through the area, rapidly intensified, though a major disaster was averted.

Police and fire brigade teams quickly arrived at the scene and successfully brought the fire under control. Officials and employees from Oil India also reached the site to assess the damage and ongoing situation.
Local residents have voiced serious concerns, claiming they had detected the smell of petrol in the area for the past two days. They alleged that despite informing the village head in Bongaigaon about their suspicions, their concerns were not taken seriously.
