Tinsukia, May 8: In a joint operation, security forces and Assam police apprehended a former ULFA-I member for arms trafficking.
The ULFA-I cadre has been identified as Dhan Bora. Bora was arrested from Doomdooma area of Tinsukia district.
The team after receiving a tip off immediately launched a late night operation in Dhan Bora’s residence at Kordoiguri Borgorah, Doomdooma where he was apprehended along with arms and ammunition.
“During the raid, police has seized incriminating evidences including an American pistol along with 12 rounds of live ammunition from his possession,” said an police official.
Bora’s arrest is a crucial development in their fight against the unlawful trade of firearms and ammunition within Assam.
This crackdown signifies the state police’s commitment to maintain peace and security in the region.
“We are investigating the angle of arms trafficking. We suspect that he may be linked with arms trafficking groups and run the nexus in a coordinated way,” said the police official.
