Tura, Oct 6: As Meghalaya police continues its relentless fight against the menace of drug smuggling and addiction in the state, the Anti-Narcotics Team of North Garo Hills police arrested one person on charges of drug peddling and allegedly seized heroin from his possession on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as one Helliel K Sangma, resident of Spring Hills in West Garo Hills district. He was arrested when allegedly trying to smuggle heroin into Garo Hills region, police sources said.
Sources said based on credible information from sources, one suspected drug smuggler was arrested with 3.4 grams of heroin by ANTF of North Garo Hills district.
A case has been registered as per the procedure of NDPS Act.
