Agartala, July 17: Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the supremo of TIPRA Motha, declared during the culmination of the party’s two-day plenary session at TTAADC headquarters in Khuwmlung, an ambitious plan to restructure the party and launch a massive agitation in Tripura to safeguard the interests of the Tiprasa community.
The major development involves the introduction of a new party constitution that will eliminate the position of chairman, currently held by Pradyot himself.
This decision stems from his unwavering dedication to fighting for the welfare of the Tiprasa people beyond the confines of the TIPRA Motha Party.
Pradyot, the royal scion of Tripura, expressed the need to step away from the chairman role to focus on broader issues, urging party leaders to shoulder their responsibilities independently and address internal matters themselves. However, he asserted that his authority would prevail in settling any unresolved issues that arise within the party.
Furthermore, he alerted party members to attempts aimed at weakening the unity of TIPRA Motha and the Tiprasa community, cautioning against succumbing to monetary temptations and offers of influential positions.
Pradyot commended the unity displayed by the 13 MLAs in the Assembly who fearlessly defended their constitutional rights against the Treasury bench. Simultaneously, he urged party MDCs seeking personal gains to sever ties with the party promptly.
He also called upon the elected members of TTAADC to be prepared if required to submit their resignations to the governor as a form of protest against inadequate budget allocation to the district council and the failure to hold Village Council elections.
Anticipating the upcoming parliamentary elections and alleged attempts by the ruling BJP to lure TTAADC’s elected members, the TIPRA Motha leadership has decided to initiate a comprehensive party restructuring.
By August 15, new block-level and sub-zonal committees will be established, with district-level and core committees given until the end of September to complete their restructuring.
Pradyot, announced the exclusion of external observers from the process, emphasizing the formation of local grassroots organizations to facilitate the party’s restructuring and prepare for a robust agitation aimed at pressuring the central government to address the demand for Greater Tipraland.
Strongly committed to safeguarding the Tiprasa community, Pradyot firmly declared his refusal to compromise with the ruling BJP’s divisive tactics that seek to fragment the community based on language, script, religion, and other factors.
He issued a stern warning to BJP leaders, promising resolute action if they persist in their efforts to divide the Tiprasa community.
