Agartala, July 17: In a significant development, more than 1300 voters from various parties, including the Congress, CPIM, and TMC, in the Town Bordwali constituency, which is represented by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, joined the ruling BJP on Sunday. This joining of voters serves as a major boost for the BJP in the state.

During a joining program at the Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketa ground, the newly joined members were warmly welcomed into the party by Chief Minister Dr. Saha, BJP Tripura State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder. They were presented with BJP flags to symbolize their affiliation with the party.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Saha highlighted the misrule of the CPIM-led Left Front in Tripura over the course of 35 years. He noted that during this period, the sole opposition and alternative to the CPIM was the Congress. He alleged that the Congress and its leaders betrayed the people’s trust, causing disillusionment among the electorate.

While not explicitly naming Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Dr. Saha indirectly criticized him and other leaders who frequently change political parties for personal gain. He likened their political journeys to the life cycle of cockroaches, constantly changing appearances and colors.

Dr. Saha asserted that the people of the state are now aware of such opportunistic politics and no longer believe in such leaders.

Furthermore, he criticized the opposition parties, particularly Congress and CPIM, for their use of unparliamentary language and disruptive behavior in the legislative assembly and labeled their actions as signs of frustration and intolerance.

The Chief Minister emphasized the transformative change witnessed in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He commended PM Modi for introducing transparency and fairness in governance, highlighting that unlike previous administrations, the Modi government has remained free from corruption scandals while delivering the benefits of various schemes to the people.

Dr. Saha stressed the BJP’s emphasis on direct engagement with the common people at the grassroots level to fulfill their basic needs and earn their trust and support. He argued that such interactions hold more significance than organizing large rallies and political events.

Moreover, the Chief Minister asserted that PM Modi has set new standards in politics by promoting transparency and eradicating violence and corruption. He contended that gaining the confidence of the public is crucial for securing votes and remaining in power, and mere deception is insufficient in the long run.

Dr. Saha called on his party workers to abandon the culture of terror associated with communism, which has tarnished the state’s image and future prospects. He stressed the importance of earning the trust of the public through dedicated work.

In addition, he criticized the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee, highlighting the violence witnessed during the recent Panchayat elections in the state. Dr. Saha pointed out that such incidents exemplify the absence of democracy under the Trinamool Congress (TMC), as no other party is allowed to participate in political activities.

Drawing a comparison with Tripura’s incident-free assembly elections held four months ago, Dr. Saha urged Mamata Banerjee to learn from Tripura’s peaceful electoral process, demonstrating that elections can be conducted without violence and bloodshed.
