Shillong, Jan 19: CLP leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Friday informed that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ will include Meghalaya on January 22.
“It (Yatra) goes beyond politics and focuses on the core values of equality and justice,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
He said that through the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has managed to raise important issues as un-abated Price Rise which is hurting the common people, discrimination of the weaker section of society by the BJP led govt, they are also running away from Caste Census, and even freedom of religious practices is severely dented by them.
He said that atrocities against women have increased many fold after the rise of the BJP.
On the alleged misuse of autonomous bodies, Lyngdoh said the BJP is demolishing the democratic setup, by rendering the Election Commission toothless and using all investigating agencies like ED, CBI, IT to selectively target the opposition and shut their dissent against the Govt.
“They suspended 146 MPs just before the discussion on the controversial laws so they can bulldoze their way. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is about coming together as communities to fight against all these atrocities and raise a voice together in a powerful manner, led by our leader, Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
Lyngdoh informed that Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Jorabat at 2.30pm on January 22. He will hand over the Yatra Flag to Meghalaya Pradesh Congress there.
At 3.30pm, he will arrive at DTO point Nongpoh from where he will embark on the walk towards Pahamsyiem Stadium from where he will address the crowd starting at 4.00pm.
Post the public meeting, Rahul Gandhi will proceed towards Byrnihat where he will halt for the Night and on the 23rd January morning, there will be a Meeting at USTM with NECCC leaders.
Post the meeting, he will continue his Yatra.
