Shillong, June 17: The heavy rains across the state of Meghalaya have triggered a flurry of devastations due to flash floods and landslides. Atleast one person died due to landslides on Friday morning in Mawsynram while others remain missing and efforts were on to rescue several trapped victims.
In East Khasi Hills, due to heavy landslide at Dangar village under Mawsynram, one house was damaged. Rescue operations are currently on to rescue 4 people trapped inside the house. The BSF is also assisting in the rescue operation.
In Kenmynsaw, Mawsynram, one house collapsed due to landslide. So far, 3 children, all under the age of 15 years, have been rescued but their parents remain mission. Efforts are underway to find and rescue them from the debris. The local police and villagers are on the rescue operation.
In Boro Ryngku, Mawsynram, one boy has reportedly died due to landslide.
Sources said additional teams are being sent to Mawsynram to assist in rescue operations.
