Tura, Jan 21: The 19th Annual General Conference of the Nokma Council was hoisted by Hemarson Sangma, Nokma of Nengkong Aking, with Rakkam Sangma as the Chief guest of the program on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Rakkam Sangma, urged the Aking Nokmas to actively participate in preserving the rich culture, traditions, practices, and dialects of the 12 sub-tribes of the Garos.

He highlighted that the congregation of Achik kings served as a platform for sharing ideas and activities among the Aking Nokmas.

Sangma further said that such conferences should be held annually to facilitate the exchange of valuable insights and contribute to the preservation and protection of the rights of their respective Akings.
