Tura, Feb 12: The administration from the five districts of Garo Hills has prepared a detailed report against the two day bandh and night road blockade enforced by pressure groups opposed to GHADC CEM election and the same is being sent for submission to the Meghalaya High Court and the state government.
“We are sending a detailed report of the closures to the High Court and the state government,” confirmed West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh.
He said that it is necessary to apprise the high court of the events because the closure had violated its standing order prohibiting any form of bandhs or shutdowns that disturbed normal life of the people.
Separately, police in Tura have also filed suo moto cases against the groups that called for the shutdowns which led to an attempt to burn down a Food Corporation of India (FCI) truck filled with rice that was parked outside its depot in Dakopgre, Tura on Wednesday night.
The miscreants set the tyres of the truck on fire at around 11:30 in the night but luckily there was intense police movement and one of the patrolling parties passing through the road spotted the flames and rushed to put it out.
