Shillong, September 18: The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) on Wednesday has organised a small event to congratulated Riiohlang Dhar, a female football referee from the state, for being selected to supervise in the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Riiohlang, a 34-year-old from Meghalaya, was included in the list of 38 match officials, who will be on call for the October 10-November 3 event.
To honor her achievement, the MFA presented Ri-iohlang with a commemorative medal and a cash prize of ₹25,000 during a ceremony at the MFA office in JN Stadium Polo, Shillong.
The event was attended by MFA President Hamletson Dohling, Secretary Sunesh Syiem and executive members.
During the ceremony, Hamletson Dohling expressed his pride in Riiohlang’s accomplishment, calling it a proud moment for the MFA, the state and the country.
Sunesh Syiem added that this was one of the greatest honors for the association, extending the MFA’s best wishes to Ri-iohlang as she embarks on her role in the global tournament.
