Tura, Sept 18: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) is receiving a huge sum of money totaling Rs 20 crores from the state government as part of its royalty share from transport and forests, and this amount will be used to disburse four months salaries to its employees.
“We are getting Rs. 20 crore which will be used for salary disbursement for four months. We need approximately Rs 4 crore each month to clear the salaries of all our employees. We are hoping to start the process of salary disbursement from next week onwards,” said Deputy CEM Nikman Ch Marak who along with CEM Benedic Marak and Chairman Rakesh A Sangma met with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in Shillong to get the funds approved on Friday.
According to Dy CEM Nikman Marak, Rs. 16 crore rupees will be used for salary disbursement of 4 months and the remaining will be kept aside for other disbursements like gratuity leave salary and retirement pay etc.
The NPP leadership in the district council has expressed their gratitude to Chief minister Conrad K Sangma for his swift action to get the much sought after funds released in record time so as to help the employees get their pending dues.
