Shillong, Oct 20: UDP leader and cabinet minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Thursday expressed confidence that the party will win a good number of seats in the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections.

“We are fighting the elections to win the maximum number of seats in Khasi-Jaintia Hills region and all over the state. The UDP is here to stay. UDP will be the party which will have the voice for the people and UDP will win more seats in this coming election,” Rymbui told reporters.

Stating that every political party will try to win all the seats, the minister however said, “We have to recognize the strength of other parties and, as I said, politics is a work in progress so we have to work till the date of polling.”

He said the UDP will come back but this time with more numbers in the 60-member House.
