Jowai, Dec 21: Meghalaya Education Minister and Amlarem MLA, Lahkmen Rymbui, on Tuesday inaugurated the new school buildings of Nongtalang Government LP School and Nongtalang Govt. Secondary School. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Administrative Building cum Auditorium of Nongtalang Government Secondary School which will be constructed at Rs. 1.24 cr.
Lahkmen Rymbui, who is also a former student of the LP School, said that the main reason for his achievements is alll because of the school and he wishes that this school will be at par with other LP Schools in the state.
He also encouraged the students to set goals in life and to work hard in order to achieve their goals and urged upon the people to work in tandem with the government to bring about changes.
Earlier in the programme, Addl. Chief Secretary incharge of Education, DP Wahlang, congratulated the teachers, and the residents of Nontalang village on getting these two new school buildings.
He informed that the building of the Secondary School was constructed at the cost of Rs. 3.75 cr while the furniture will be procured at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakhs while the building of ghe Lower Primary School was constructed at the coat of Rs. 35 lakhs.
About Nongtalang Govt. School
Nongtalang Govt. Secondary School is one of the oldest schools in Riwar Jaintia. It was established in the year 1974. It was purely a private school run and managed by the Nongtalang village committee and it was known as Nongtalang High school.
The school was provincialized in the year 1988 and got the new name of Nongtalang Govt. Secondary School.
The school now has 22 permanent sanctioned posts –Â Headmaster, Asst. Headmaster, 8 secondary teachers, 5 UP teachers and 7 non-teaching staffs.
