Shillong, Jan 11: Local football club Ryntih FC has signed an agreement with Minerva Academy in helping to develop local players at the grassroots level and provide technical support. The agreement or the memorandum of understanding was signed by the two clubs in the city on Monday.
Minerva Academy general manager Harshit Tyagi was in town and jointly addressed a press conference with Ryntih’s Samran Syiem and Wallam Kharpran.
Addressing media persons here in the city, the CEO of Ryntih Club Samran Syiem informed that the club in partnership with the Diengpasoh community has agreed to set up a football and sports development facility and a cultural and youth development centre in the area for the primary purpose of promoting the youth potential.
Informing that the Dorbar Shnong of Diengpasoh has leased out land of 15 acres for 40 years, he said that Ryntih Club has also signed an agreement with Minerva to build the football academy.
Syiem also said that construction work will kick start once the head of the Minerva Academy Ranjit Bajaj comes and lays the foundation stone for the same at Diengpasoh.
As part of the agreement, Minerva Academy will help Ryntih in the latter’s plans to develop an academy of its own at Diengpasoh and inspection of the site was done on Monday in this regard. The Shillong club aims to replicate Minerva’s setup as far as possible at Diengpasoh.
Camps and trials that Minerva holds in Shillong will take place at the Ryntih Academy, which will also benefit from access to Minerva’s coaches.
